CHARACTER INFORMATION

NAME: Thomas Jefferson.
CANON: Dear Companion by Kelly Joyce Neff (historical fiction novel; yes I have permission - I know the author).
AGE: 38; (April 13th, 1743).
CANON POINT: June 3, 1981. (almost five years after the passing of the Declaration of Independence, on his last day as Governor of Virginia; one year plus some change before his wife Martha, known as Patty, dies from diabetes; two years before acting as a delegate of Virginia to Congress, plus some change until the War for Independence ends on September 3, 1783; four years before being sent as an Ambassador for the United States to France; nine years before being instated as the first Secretary of State under George Washington - who is still President. ...I think that is enough context before I bore everyone to death).

BACKGROUND: A few, for reference.
Factual/Historical reference @ Bio.

INCENTIVE/FIT: Thomas is very enthusiastic about the future. He may be skeptical of other people, their motivations, and very moody and disagreeable towards those who differ in political view or his personal set of principles, but he is still optimistic about mankind in general, and the future of humanity. He is very interested in the sciences, medicine, technology, etc. The idea of being able to experience this all first-hand will be very appealing. Very adaptable to whatever life throws at him, he would likely even try to fit in and fully immerse himself in a new reality and time-setting. Even if all this was not part of his personality, he has very motivating incentive.

His wife is dying, though he does not yet want to admit it. She has a chronic and worsening condition which, in his period, cannot be cured and can hardly be treated. Technically, it is unknown what Patty died of, but in the book, the author has taken liberties to discern probable facts researched from historical analysis and modern medical understandings. If Thomas were promised a way to cure her, where they could happily remain married and she could live, he would not hesitate to do absolutely anything. Later in his political career, he showed tendencies which can only be labeled as opportunistic and frequently Machiavellian, but if there were a peaceful means to achieving what he wanted, he would very much be on board. His only slight hesitation would be guilt in the uncertainty of, "If I do this, my wife can live, but she may not forgive whatever I have had to do to help her." He has faith in her forgiveness though, and that will guide him.

ANYTHING ELSE? I hope the icons are ok. His modernization works for the game, though I took the playby for appearances sake (even though he doesn't have the right color hair, we do the best we can). If you need more background specifics, I'll be happy to add the links). Also if you needed proof regarding permission, let me know how to get that for you.
